Al's Flowers Story

In 1987, Al Cantrell, decided to pursue his passion for flowers and established Al's Flowers. A few courses in Holland taught him the art of floral design, and he's been creating one-of-a-kind arrangements ever since. Flowers for a huge Montgomery wedding? Al's checked that off his list. How about for an established debutante ball? Al designed everything from the fabulous centerpieces to the debutante's bouquets. No job is too big or too small for Al's Flowers. Every day arrangements ranging from colorful bubble bowls to magnificent, showstopping vases go out the door, and each is crafted with the pride and craftsmanship that has held our doors open for 30 years.

Traveling the world with an international floral design group, Al has graced everywhere from Asia to Amsterdam with his presence. Working alongside some of the best in the floral business was the challenge, growth and excitement that he craved. However, his family beckoned him back home to Montgomery where he has been working ever since. Memories of his grandmother's rose garden keeps the business personal as does his love for calla lilies, which grace the ironwork of his sign.
When you step onto the porch at Al's Flowers, Southern hospitality and style is evident. From the wooden blue ceiling hangs ceramic and rope planters, while cast iron figures and iconic lanterns nestle in the corner as if they've been there all along. Potted succulents and aged planters line a bench beckoning you to come on in. As you cross through the doors, fresh flowers surround the store bursting with color and personality, much like the rest of the shop. Not too surprisingly, the store reflects Al's vivacious, tasteful personality with a few things that will surprise you. Stylish custom jewelry, wonderfully-scented candles and delicious soaps are easy pickup gifts for a friend's birthday, a housewarming gift or simply "just because." You'll even find some of Al's antiques mixed in with to-die-for side tables, intricate mirrors and awe-worthy sconces.
Come on in if you need a new piece for your home, a bouquet for your sweetheart or a memorable conversation with the one and only Al.
